Mike Conneen, River the Wonder Dog, and I went together to the Okefenokee, another of our annual post-Thanksgiving adventures. We got there on a Thursday, and the planned four-day, three-night trip was to commence on Saturday. This gave Mike enough time to discern that bringing River into a swamp full of alligators might not be a good idea.
We modified the plan. The trip would be three days and two nights, and I would go solo. Mike and River would explore land-based recreation while I was gone. We’d trade fishing stories when we got back together.
